Bubblegum pop was almost inescapable in the mid to late nineties, influencing popular music for years to come. Here are a few of the hits that we still can't get out of our head.
The epitome of bublegum pop, Hanson's 1997 hit 'Mmmbop' was everyone's favorite track. While this teenybopper trio went on to further success, nothing matched this early tribute to nonsensical lyrics.
Every tween girl's 90s anthem, The Spice Girl's 'Wannabe' dominated the 1996 and 1997 music charts, securing its place in bubblegum pop history while bringing a new wave of feminism and girl power to an audience of billions.
Originally turned down by TLC, 'Baby One More Time' was snatched up by then young Britney Spears. Still regarded as one of the best selling singles of all time, 'Baby One More Time' was recently covered on hit show Glee.
Cute kiddie duo Kris Cross released their number one hit 'Jump" in early 1992. This bubblegum dance anthem captured the hearts of millions, but was, unfortunately, Kris Kross's only succesful song.
Somewhat slow and sappy for a bubblegum pop hit, Backstreet Boy's 'As Long as You Love Me' made teen girls everywhere swoon, and captured their hearts for years to come.
hahaha...I was thinking the same as litetender...after my time...although I have heard the first three on the list. ummmm...if the last two are anything like the first three, I have to say I didn't miss much :)
