When you are in the hospital, you are either sick or having surgery and staying long enough to recover from the surgery. Here are some tips to making your stay a shorter one.
No matter why you are in the hospital, you should get plenty of rest. Don't stay up too late watching TV and don't let guests or family members stay too long to tire you out.
Chances are your doctor will have you on the appropriate diet for your condition. Eat as much as you can at each meal. Your body needs fuel to heal properly.
Your doctor will be leaving specific instructions with your nurse. These instructions will be based on your condition and may be something like sit up to eat in a chair, do not get out of bed, walk down hall 2 x a day. These are just examples.
Be nice to the nurses and attendants and whoever is sitting with you. They all know you don't feel well, are in pain, and uncomfortable. They are all there to help you and to help you get well sooner.
You should drink lots of water and or other fluids if the doctor allows. This is very important after surgery and will help your bladder and bowels to get back to working on their own.
By following doctor's orders you will be enabling your body to heal faster and be released sooner rather than later from the hospital.
Excellent list of things patients should do in a hospital. H5
Nice list of things patients should do in a hospital.
This is a very accurate and important list to follow. Well done on this list of 5.
Great list of important things. I am still laughing at Vivasuzi's comment. I worked in a hospital where the food was actually good.
Yep, eating often doesn't get done b/c hospital food stinks! If they really want you to eat, they should make better food :)
