Free range eggs are by far better for you to eat, nutrition and taste wise. According to Mother Earth News, tests were done on 14 flocks of egg laying chickens around the United States. These hens were allowed to roam freely on pasture or were in movable, humane pens that allowed them access to fresh pasture and protection from predators.
The results were hens raised on a pastured diet of insects, green plants and worms, produced much more nutritious and tastier eggs. They may have up to 1/3 less cholesterol, 1/4 less saturated fat, 2/3 more vitamin A, 2 times more omega-3 fatty acids, 3 times more vitamin E and 7 times more beta carotene.
Don't let the labels on grocery store egg cartons fool you, either. The big, commercial egg manufacturers are doing the least they have to do to call their eggs "free range" "cage free" vegetarian fed" and "grass fed."
According to a New York Times 2010 report, 97 per cent of eggs produced in the United States are from hens packed in tight indoor cages with no room to roam outside.
Everyone needs to do their part in this inhumane treatment of animals and boycott their cheap eggs that benefit no one.
First of all, no animal was ever put on this earth to be crammed into cages with no sunlight or chance to eat what they were designed to eat. We cannot keep ignoring these greedy, mass producers of eggs that do not care about the life or health of their animals.
As you can see the nutrition and health benefits from true free range eggs far outweighs the cheaper, shelf eggs that have deceptive labeling on them.
Free range eggs are very good for you and do not harm your cholesterol levels as alarmists once claimed.
The labels say they are vegetarian diet or free range but that can mean that the hens are getting fed nothing but corn, soy and cottonseed with toxic additives and hormones that fatten up the poor birds. Soy is very cheap and very unhealthy for any of us to consume regularly.
These birds are so frustrated in these tight cages that they peck each other to mutilation standing in their own urine and feces. These are the reasons you can buy the eggs so cheap.
As long as we continue to support these greedy, abusive egg producers, they will continue their horrible treatment of these helpless animals.
Many groups of activists are calling for the FDA to clamp down on these companies, rightly so, let your voice be heard and join the campaign to stop the bad treatment and slaughter of sick animals for human food.

Do not buy eggs from a store unless you can prove that they are truly free range. Chances are they are not, unless it's a health food store or organic market. Look up the company online and call them if you question the quality of the eggs, which will also show them your concerns about the truth of their egg carton labels.
Local farmers need our support and you may pay more for good, free range eggs, but it is well worth it to eat healthy and be the voices for these helpless birds.
Great list.
Very correct and healthful information...H5!
I fully agree with your statements about the treatment of hens, chickens and any animal even if it is used for food. The free range eggs are getting more difficult to find because of their popularity. Thank you for your truthful list of health benefits of those eggs.
Makes me want to order some eggs to incubate so I'll have a flock of layers again! High five!
