It happens to all of us. Where's the car keys, the bill that's due, or the belt that matches this outfit? We lose things. When you can't find something, try these techniques to turn up the lost object.
Check the usual places where the item is normally kept. Now look in the close vicinity of those places. For example, if the television remote is missing, check around the TV, around the sofa, and under the coffee table. Poke around under the sofa and chair cushions.
Did you go into the kitchen for a snack? Look there for the television remote control. If it's the car keys that are missing, start retracing your path from the last time you came into the house with them. Continue on through the house to the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and anywhere else you went after arriving home. Any luck?
If the first two steps don't work, you may be getting anxious. Try not to panic. Sit down and think it through. Let your mind explore different possibilities. Check out whatever spots came to your mind.
If the object still isn't found, start exploring obscure places. Did you leave the car keys inside the refrigerator while you got out a drink after work? Is there a rip in the lining of your handbag that the keys could have slipped through and be hiding inside the lining? That happened to me once and I didn't find the key for months. Explore these options.
Ask everyone that shares your space if they've seen or moved the missing object. Don't ask in an accusatory manner or they may be afraid to confess that they borrowed or used it. Getting more people involved means more eyes to look for it and more minds to think of possible places it could be.
Thanks for these tips. It helps not to panic when you have lost something. H5
I always tell the kids to retrace their steps whenever they are looking for something and it usually works. :) H5!
My husband used to always put the mail and his car keys in the freezer for whatever reason and then couldn't find it. lol
