The ways to eat less and feel better, in many ways, are more about common sense than willpower skills or dieting techniques. The following list includes easy ways to eat less to maintain or lose weight.
Eat less by leaving serving dishes of food in the kitchen and not on the dining table. Psychologically, you are less likely to go back for repeated servings if food is not left within eye sight or easy reach.
Eat less and feel better simply by using a smaller plate. Some people subconsciously learn to fill all the space of their plate. Using a smaller plate automatically means taking less food.
Really want to eat less? Wear pants at least a bit too tight. You'll fill up far sooner if there's less space to expand. Skirts and sweat pants are an absolute no-no.
Stop eating on the run. When you eat while multi-tasking, you're more likely to eat too much before you realize you've done so. Sitting down to eat your meal slowly and mindfully will result in eating less and, in turn, feeling better because you'll be more satisfied.
Take a brisk walk or drink an 8 ounce glass of water before you eat a meal. You'll eat far less when you sit down to the dinner table.

I try to eat from small platters I have, which don't hold as much food as big plates. Drinking water is important too.
