Introduction:The basic human right is that everyone has the right to be treated justly. Each of the Golden Rule and Silver Rule have words that parallel those intentions in some ways yet differ too.
Many religious sects recite the golden rule in various ways. One Christian translation is: " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Other groups have also put words to arrive at the same meaning of the golden rule too such as Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism and Zoroastrianism. The Silver Rule has been recited and admired by Martin Luther King, Gandhi and Confucius who thought the Golden Rule had shortcomings. The Silver Rule is commonly known to be "Do not do to others as you would not have them do to you."
The Bible has many chapters where the golden rule is mentioned in several books of the Bible. Matthew and Luke are two of those books that pin point the Golden Rule. There is no mention of the Silver rule anywhere in the Bible.
Gold is a more precious metal than silver is and has ever been. The fact that the Golden Rule is a positive collection of words, where as the Silver Rule has a negative message leads one to know the reason for the Golden Rules popularity today.
Confucius who lived from 551 BC to 479 BC highlighted the Silver Rule, which is the negative form of the Golden Rule. Confucius has been credited with his word " reciprocity" which is explained in the Silver Rule. Chinese call Confucius the Greatest Master for his teachings.
The silver rule is obscure and unknown to many. The words "Do no harm" are part of the Hippocratic oath taken by physicians, however is not stated as the Silver Rule in that context. Hippocrates declared two things referring to disease: "To help, or at least do no harm". These words are said to prohibit negative deeds and actions. The Silver Rule is criticized for not requiring acts of assistance and kindness in the contents. The golden rule is very well known by several people even if they cannot recite any real words, the meaning is vividly stated. The words of the Golden Rule promote positive actions toward others.

You've finally done it...As my hubby would say, "You've stumped the band". I read this at work today and don't think you'll find it a surprise to know that I immediately researched the Silver Rule, which I had not heard of before. Keep writing about such esoteric things so that I may keep stretching.
