Paying bills sure isn't fun but you can make that chore less time consuming and even save money just by changing your bill paying routine.
When you shop in the grocery store, department store or local mall use a debit card to pay for your purchases instead of writing a check. Your bank may charge a fee for every check processed and an additional fee for the checks themselves when you order them. You'll also save time in the checkout line since it only takes a second to swipe a debit card.
Just count all of the bills you mail out each month and multiply that number by the price of a postage stamp. Now multiply that by 12 and see how much you will save in a year by using your banks online bill pay service instead. If your bank doesn't offer this service consider switching to a bank that does.
Have your monthly bills automatically charged to a credit card that earns you rewards. Most utility companies can set this up for free. Just make sure you pay the balance in full each month just as you would have paid each bill individually in the past. Now you only have one payment to make and you're earning points or cash back as well.
To avoid any late fees or finance charges it is extremely important to pay your bills by the due date. Your online bill pay service should allow you to schedule payments in advance so they always arrive on time.
Check if your bank can link your savings account to your checking account as a means of covering any overdrafts. That way if you miscalculate something and overdraw your account the funds will be pulled from your savings instead of charging you an overdraft fee.
Great ways to save time and money when paying your bills. H5
