Dieting is hard enough, so a few easy tips can make dieting even easier.
Set the table for the meal by putting out a dinner plate and a full set of silverware. Sit down at the table with a napkin and time to eat the food. Put on some music to make the dining experience even more relaxed. This process should be done every time you eat anything, including snacks.
This step requires you to chew each bite of food at least ten times. Studies show this reduces the risk of bloating and aids food digestion.
Focus on the food and the flavors of each item. Mix the flavors during the meal to add interest and wait to drink fluids. Washing the food down interferes with enjoying the food flavors.
When eating alone, prepare only the food you should eat for that meal. Making extras for other meals means a risk of overeating for that particular meal. If you routinely cook for yourself and others, measure out your portions and limit dining to only your plate.
Television viewing encourages mindless eating. You can consume massive quantities of food because you're not paying attention to how much food is actually being consumed. Put a sign on your TV to remind you not to dine and munch.
