Many years have changed the Haiku, yet they still remain popular.See if any of these Haiku give you reason to write one of your own.The plural of Haiku is Haiku as well.
When a person begins to compose a Haiku, there are points to consider. Since the Haiku has made some very drastic changes over the years, even the old version of the Haiku is acceptable to be called a Haiku. If you do your research you will find a wide assortment of different Haiku.Because Haiku is a very brief form of prose the title should be brief as well.
Haiku is an old Japanese form of expression and is easily pronounced by saying hi coo. When the Haiku was first introduced to me, I did not fall in love with it, but it was more acceptable the more I read them. Some poetry is liked more than other forms, so give Haiku some time. The more you practice writing a Haiku the better at it you become.
Haiku poetry is constructed today, in the modern way, quite a bit different from when it first began. The first line of a Haiku needs to make sense all alone as if it is a solid thought without anything else added. It must have a total of five syllables making it unique too.
When a poet or poetess writes a Haiku the second line must make total sense all by itself too. It should blend well with the first line, but be completely independent if said alone. The second line of the Haiku should have seven syllables in it, so the second line creates another unique poetry line adding to the Haiku.
Haiku poems are short and the third and final line is the total composition of this venture. The third line must make sense all by itself, blend well in with the other two and also only have five syllables in the line.An example of a Haiku is:
"Balmy is the wind"
Spring winds are balmy
Blowing all the pollen round
Let the calm come back.
Try you skill at composing a Haiku and don't get discouraged if it takes you a few tries. Haiku are not as easy to compose as they look.
What a great comment Duane.Thank you for your Haiku message.
