Cancer can be an absolutely devastating disease, and cancer symptoms should not be ignored. However, common cancer symptoms can also be caused by a variety of other triggers. If you have one or more of the following cancer symptoms, be sure to discuss them with your health care provider to rule out the possibility of cancer.
Most people would be happy to lose 10 pounds or more. However, if you have not been trying to lose weight and the scales are a bit lighter, this may be a cancer symptom. Unexplained weight loss of 10 pounds or more may indicate an underlying cancer in your body.
Everyone gets tired, but when you catch up on your sleep and still feel exhausted there might be trouble. Unexplained fatigue and extreme tiredness is another common cancer symptom.
Cancer symptoms can also be visible on the skin. However, just because you notice a change in your skin tone or appearance does not mean that you have skin cancer. Other cancers cause skin changes as well. Skin that becomes unusually dark, yellow, or red may be an indicator of cancer.
One of the reasons why cancer can be hard to endure is because it is very painful. Many people recognize pain as a cancer symptom when they have an unexplained ache that will not go away. Some people describe the initial pain as feeling like a pulled muscle, while others notice a lump or area that is sensitive to the touch.
Some blood cancers or cancers that impact the immune system cause fevers. In other cases, cancer patients experience a fever after the cancer has spread into another organ or area of the body. If you have an unexplained fever, be sure to see your doctor or caregiver.
