Introduction:Being stuck in the hospital is no fun. Trust me, it is not a place anyone wants to be. Just because you are in the hospital does not mean there isn't anything for your to do. There are lots of things to do in the hospital.
While in the hospital, you can read outdated magazines. Find out that Al Gore is taking the election results to the Supreme Court. You can learn that Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson just got married. Actually, you should take that one home; it could be a collectible and worth a little money.
Push the button that calls the nurse is another thing you can do while in the hospital. Make sure your really want something though. Fluff the pillow. Add ice to your water. Check your I.V. There is a lot of stuff you can ask them to do so you don't feel like you are completely cut off from the world.
While in the hospital you can watch the I.V. drip. Count the drops per minute and then do the math. You can learn how many drops you get each day, week and month. Depending on how long your are there. Of course, it helps if math is your cup of tea.
You can eat Jello when you are in the hospital. They love to serve their patients that stuff. Green Jello seems to be popular. Make sure the whipped cream isn't solid. Sometimes the Jello sits around for a while before you actually get it on your tray.
While in the hospital, you can dream of leaving. This is probably the best past time. Don't think of all the stuff you have to do when you get home though. That will add to an already stressful situation and you can end up with longer stay than you wanted.
Despite being in the hospital, try to have a little fun. It does not have to be as bad as it seems. There is always something to do. Granny always said, "A creative mind is never bored."
I'm linking your list to my new LM 5list about what to bring to a hospital waiting room:)
Too funn--I just spent time at a hospital and it has inspired a different LM5 hat I'm working on! God jo on ths one!
I'd have to stay in the hospital for the rest of my life to catch up on my outdated magazines!! LOL Hi5!!
This list will help many stressed individuals feel better while in the hospital. A great sense of humor is the key to coping with a stay at the hospital.
Emma, get some rest and take it easy while you are there. Sending a prayer to you. (And a thanks to the hubs for posting this for you!)
Hope all is well. I had my husband help me write an article on how to have a successful hospital stay. He was the one in the hospital. It seemed to help him. : )
Get well soon.
At least you still have your sense of humor and are entertaining yourself.
