A compost is a green way to reduce trash pick up and provide a natural resource for gardening. Consider the following items to compost.
Most recycling centers do not accept pizza boxes in their cardboard collection boxes. They are dirty and will contaminate the batch. Consider tearing up your pizza box and adding it to your compost bin at home.
Most people toss empty ice cream boxes into the trash after the ice cream is gone. Next time, rinse your cardboard ice cream box, tear it into sections, and toss into your compost pile.
Instead of tossing your wine corks (not synthetic or made with plastics)into the trash, add it to your compost. Regular wine corks for years, have been a great addition to a garden.
The next time you eat nuts with shells, save them and toss them into your compost. Keep a container handy when shelling peanuts, pistachios or other nuts with shells.
Every time you use a wooden or paper match to light a fire, or light a candle, toss it into your compost. Keep a jar or tin can handy to collect them in.
Help keep today's landfills from overfilling with items that can be composted.
