Let's face it, we can't all afford to buy department store mascara for $35-55+ a tube. Even if we could, it seems silly to shell out so much money for a product that needs to be tossed after 3 months. Fortunately, you can get great results from mascaras available at your local drugstore. So, look glamorous at the bargain price of $6-12!

L'oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara

A two step mascara that forms smudge-free, flake-free, water-resistant, easy-to-remove tubes around each individual lash. You'll get volume and length, but you might sacrifice in the curl department. Seriously, though, this is a futuristic mascara with a lot to offer.

Covergirl Lashblast Hydrofuge (Waterproof)

No smudging and no flaking, with a big, bold, black lash look? This is definitely for you. You'll get great volume, and waterproof products generally hold curl better. But careful during the application, 'cause the chubby brush takes some practice to maneuver without making a mess.

L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes

Long, fanned out, clump-free lashes? This one might just be your Holy Grail of mascaras. You'll get defined, gorgeous lashes without the fake look. The blackest black color is a bit more subdued than other products, but the mess-free application is worth it.

Maybelline the Falsies Volum' Express

Then again, if you like the fake look and lots of drama, you may want to try this mascara for a head-turning look. True to the name, you'll look like you've taken the time to apply false lashes. Go easy with the coats though, 'cause this product has a slight tendency to flake when applied heavily.

Maybelline Full N' Soft

For a casual, natural look, reach for this mascara. If you aren't looking for drama, this is the way to subtly enhance your lashes. You'll get great color and soft lashes, but don't expect miracles in the volume or curl department. If natural-but-better is your thing, this mascara is for you!




Final Thoughts

It might take a few purchases to find the mascara that fulfills all of your requirements, but with a plethora of quality options, the drugstore might just have what you're looking for. You'll save a bundle, plus you won't hesitate to toss the tube at the 3 month mark. Your eyes will thank you.
