Jim Brown is unarguably the most famous Cleveland Browns player, and he is still the standard against which all running backs are judged. Brown only played nine years for the Cleveland team. After he retired from play, he worked until 2010 as an executive advisor for the Browns.
Warfield played wide receiver for the Browns from 1964 until 1969 and returned to the team for the 1976 season after a trade sent him to the Miami Dolphins and then to the Memphis Southmen. Warfield retired from football in 1977, but continued to work for the Browns as a special assignment scout until 2010.
Otto Graham played quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in the 1950s when the team first joined the National Football League. Graham was the driving force behind multiple championships for the team.
Ozzie Newsome was the prototypical modern tight end in the NFL. Newsome was also a gifted pass catcher and blocker who could run with the ball after he caught it. A rare talent, even now.
Clay Matthews played in the line backer position. Matthews always seemed to be in the right position to make the big play for the Browns.
The Browns runners-up to the "Top Five" list includes players Greg Pruitt, Brian Sipe, Kevin Mack, Earnest Byner, Bernie Kosar and Hanford Dixon. Great Browns players all!
