At least once in your life, you should experience picking your own apples. Go when the ground is dry, though, or you'll get muddy. And beware the bees/wasps that may be around due to the sweetness. But other than that, it's fun to carry in your own bushel of freshly- picked apples.
After picking said apples, you must enjoy some of the great things made with apples. Sure, you can eat and drink them any other time of year, but it just feels extra special during the fall, with that little chill in the air, a cup of warm apple cider in your hand, and your fork about to dig into that scrumptious homemade apple turnover.
If you've never gone through a corn maze, you definitely need to go. It is loads of fun. You go from clue to clue inside the corn field, whilst get lost among the corn rows - didn't I just come from that row? It's a lot of fun for the whole family, although, I have to admit, I had more fun than my daughter did. It's the kid in me.
Who doesn't love a hay ride? Okay, well, if it's a nice hay ride, you only have to sit on the scratchy hay bales on the back of a trailer being pulled by a four-by-four. There's just something about sitting on hay that says fall.
Can't forget the pumpkins. After being dropped off at the pumpkin patch, searching the field for the best pumpkin, no, the Great Pumpkin, is the most important fall task of all. After all, this pumpkin will be the one to represent your family as it sits on your front porch, smiling or frowning at all the trick-or-treaters who dare approach your home.
Have loads of fun, make memories and take lots of pictures. You won't regret it.
