Introduction:

Many people would love to study the Bible to learn more about their faith, but they don't know how to start. Here are the top five ways to study the Bible.

Read It Like a Book

Pick up a copy of the Bible that you can read and understand, start at the beginning, and read it. The fact is that you read other books that way, and if you think of it as a book, albeit a very HOLY Book, it is not so intimidating. It is good to read a chapter a day as a general rule.

Use a Devotional Bible

There are Bibles that are arranged by the day with devotional readings that go along with the selected scripture reading for the day. Some are specifically intended for men, women, teens, etc...

Use a Read the Bible In a Year Program

There are many programs that help you know what readings to select each day in order to read through the Bible in a year. I prefer a Bible that is arranged this way, if I am doing that. With some Bibles, you will have an Old Testament reading, a New Testament reading, and a reading from Psalms and Proverbs.

I am using one right now that is chronologically arranged. I switch my method as I read through the Bible each time.

Do a Themed Study

Pick a particular theme in the Bible, such as kindness, and do a study of different passages that pertain to this theme. You can purchase books that will guide you in this type of study.

Study a Particular Book of the Bible

Choose a book in the Bible that interests you and study that book chapter by chapter. This allows you to have a cohesiveness to your study, providing the background to one chapter with another. You are more able to get the general intent of the passage when you take the entire book at one time.




Final Thoughts

However you choose to study your Bible, be sure that you prayerfully approach the study. The best way to understand any piece of writing is to talk to the Writer.
