There is nothing wrong with finding a church where you will be comfortable. Visit the Denominations that you have heard of and want to know more about.....
There are a surprising amount of people who do not know what even their church's doctrine is. I know mine quite well. This way, you will know if you are doing something that the church does not agree with, including when and how you take Communion......
It doesn't hurt to wait until a service is over to have a word with a Clergyman or find a person in the church that is open to explaining what the church is about.
You often can find out a lot by watching the Congregation of a church and how they conduct themselves. Some churches, particularly the Mega Churches will have people flaunt wealth for the head of the church as if this church has magically transformed them in to wealthy, successful, happy people which is not always the case.......
A church that has stood for many years is often an indicator of a good church and if it's aligned with the Denomination and Doctrine you choose, it's a good chance that this is a great place to worship. Be blessed!
Pretty good list...I might have written a little different but some of the same concepts for sure. I want to know how the church serves the community and how I can get involved, what the pastor's vision is, how they teach to different age groups, and what stewardship looks like in the church (not only money, but also the building as it is usually a substantial investment).
These are all great suggestions! H5!
