A fun treat for St. Patrick's Day, these shamrock donuts are easy to make and fun to eat!
Begin with a can of refrigerator style biscuits in the flavor or style of your choice. Pop open the can and separate the biscuits according to the package directions. Use a shamrock shaped cookie cutter to cut each biscuit into the shape of a clover.
Heat vegetable oil in an electric fryer or stovetop skillet. Drop the shamrock shaped biscuit into the oil. Fry until bottom is golden, then flip the biscuit over and cook until the other side is golden as well.
Remove fried donuts from the oil. Place them on a plate lined with paper towels. Use additional paper towels to pat the excess oil from the surface of the donuts.
Allow the donuts cool. Frost the donuts with green icing which can be made by stirring a few drops of green food coloring into white frosting. Alternatively, frost the donuts with white icing and top with green sprinkles.
Arrange the shamrock donuts on a shamrock shaped or green platter. Serve with Irish coffee, Irish tea or, for the kids, leprechaun's milk (milk that has been turned green with food coloring).
What an easy way to make donuts! Cute idea.
They certainly sound delicious. Thanks. H5
