I was first published at 11 years old when I wrote a profile of a local poet for my hometown newspaper. I currently write for Suite 101, Bright Hub, Demand Media Studios and LiveStrong (under a pseudonym), and am the Detroit and National Boxer Examiner at Examiner.com.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University, and have since taken a variety of post-graduate and online courses and seminars. While I don't use my degree for my "real" job, it has come in handy in my writing and my outside life.
I have owned, bred and shown Boxer dogs for the past decade, and have held several positions in the local and national Boxer clubs. My experience with the dogs has allowed me to revisit my education in husbandry, biology, and genetics.
I am a voracious reader, which fuels my passion for and enjoyment of writing. I read a wide range of genres, from chick-lit to historic fiction to non-fiction, and I am somewhat Harry Potter-obsessed (with a leaning toward Twilight fandom, as well).
I am addicted to learning, and hope I never see the day when I think I know everything about anything!
