Zurker is the newest social media network, but it's a little bit different from what's already out there...
When you sign up for Zurker, you receive what is called a vShare. Each one is a small piece of ownership, a small piece of equity, of the company. They are not shares or stock... yet. When the company goes public though, they will be. Only 1,000,000 vShares are being allocated, so it's first come first served. You need an invitation to join right now though, so I'm offering one to you. You can join through the link further down the page.
You can post statuses and pictures, you can privately message other users, and you can share links, sites, and pictures that you find on the web. However, it also has additional features such as the option to see only activity updates that directly affect you or to see the activity of everyone you've "connected" with. You can also "subscribe" to someone if you don't think they want to establish a mutual connection, such a celebrity. That way you can still see when they post something, but they won't see when you do, or vice versa.
All Zurker users have access to the accounting books, so there are no secrets are shady dealings. They do this because of the way the company is set up with the users owning shares.
Unlike Facebook where you have to create separate accounts and pages for businesses, companies, and fan pages, everything is all under your one account on Zurker. It's easy to keep track of, and it's easier for people to find your promotional pages.
Every website has to start somewhere. Right now, Zurker is still in beta. Your friends might not be using it yet, but they might be very soon. This site could very well be the next big thing, and how great would it be to say you were there when it all started? Plus, you wouldn't want to regret not having gotten a share of the company and being able to have your say. Plus, you can use it to make new friends for now!
This sounds like a promising site. Will keep it in mind.
You make a compelling case for the early adopters out there. I'm more of a "wait and see" guy myself and can hardly keep up with the social media sites I am on :)
