There are many more than just five top golf courses in the world, but this is a good start. For golf buffs, these courses are synonymous with world-class golf.
Known as the home of golf, this links course was first played 600 years ago. It is revered by professionals, and playing it is desired by most avid golfers. It is a public course, one of seven located at St. Andrews Links.
Site of the Masters, this is one of the most beautiful courses in the world. Amen Corner is world-renowned as one of the most challenging three hole layouts. Unfortunately, few will ever play Augusta, as it is a very exclusive private course.
This course hugs the California coastline and has beautiful sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The course is difficult and the wind is treacherous. It has hosted the US Open several times, most recently in 2010. This is a public course.
Perennially rated at the top of the list of golf courses, this beautiful course requires all the skills a golfer can muster. The greens are well-designed and the challenging fifth hole is one of its memorable jewels. This is a private course.
This impressive course is known as the best 17 holes of golf in the world. The front nine is built through the Del Monte Forest, while the back nine runs along the rugged California coastline. After 17 wonderful holes, the 18th is disappointing, but the spectacular scenery makes up for it. This is a private course, and like Augusta, can only be played by invitation from a member.
There are so many wonderful golf courses around the world, some of the other wonderful Scotland courses and others throughout the world that it is hard to list just five. What would make your list?
Great list.
Thanks CindyBay and thanks for dropping by.
I know some men who love to golf so I must tell them about some of these places you've listed!
