On April 20 the gay and lesbian communities will present a day of silence in schools. Tim Wildmon the president of American Family Association (AFA) is informing all parents in the event they are not aware of this event taking place in the public schools. This day of silence is sponsored by the Gay, lesbian and straight Education Network ( GLSEN).The socio-political goals of the network are to promote the morality of homosexuals.Find out exactly what date your school is doing the day of silence since some schools observe this on a different day.Ask if the teachers will be doing a lesson plan for students to take home when they opt to not participate in the day of silence.
The AFA alert team has composed a letter in the event you would like to copy this from your computer and send to the school where you child attends for their education. The letter mentions that you WILL NOT be sending your child to school during the activities the ACLU has planned for April 20,2012

The statement issued by the ACLU about the day of silence emphasizes the actions of the plan. The ACLU states the limits of the political activism during instructional time in the public school.Point one is that "You do have a right to participate in"Day of Silence" and other expressions of your opinion at a public school during non-instructional time: the breaks between classes, before and after the school day, lunchtime, and any other free times during your day". Furthermore "You do not have a right to remain silent during class if a teacher asks you to speak."

All of these and there are more organizations that oppose the day of silence. These endorse the walkout and recommend the non participation in this event on April 20, 2012.

This is copied directly from the Internet site AFA.Some administrators assert that DOS merely seeks to promote "acceptance." They fail to clarify,
however, what precisely they want students to accept. While it is legitimate to teach students that
there exist diverse opinions on this issue, it is not legitimate to imply that one of those opinions
is preferable to another. While it is appropriate to teach acceptance of people, meaning that we
should treat all with civility, it is not appropriate to suggest that students need to accept the view
that homosexual conduct is moral. These important distinctions are never made in public school
discussions of "acceptance." Full three pages are on the Internet for reading and research.
