I have family who lives in San Antonio and we have been there a few times to visit them. There are lots of things to do in San Antonio these are just some of my favorites.
If you go to San Antonio you have to visit the Alamo. The Alamo is the location where the Texas revolutionary war took place in the early 1830's. The Alamo started out as a mission and has a very rich history. You can take a guided tour and learn about the Alamo. The Alamo is actually located in the heart of Down Town San Antonio and is now surrounded by tourist attractions, restaurants, and shops.
The river walk is an area where you can walk around a river or take a boat on it. A portion of the river is covered by a mall like area that has shops and many fine restaurants. This is in walking distance from the Alamo.
Down Town San Antonio is a fun place to spend the day. There are tourist attractions such as the Ripley's Believe it Or Not Museum, a haunted house, and a children's museum among other things. We had a great time in the Mirror Maze when we were there. Be sure to put the glasses on when you go in there. Stop in the visitors center and you can buy a combo packet that will save you money on many San Antonio Attractions. I highly recommend eating at and enjoying the museum at the Buckhorn Saloon while you are in the down town area. The old fashioned eatery has generous portions and it is just an over all fun place to be.
Breckenridge Park is a really nice park in San Antonio and if you have a little train lover in your family for just a couple of bucks you can ride a little train all around the park. While at the park walk over and see the Japanese Tea Garden. When we were there is is free and it is beautiful. Breckenridge park is also very close to the San Antonio Zoo.
The San Antonio Zoo is not a huge zoo but it is a lovely one. We particularly enjoyed the reptile house and the Gibbon forest. There is also a bird area where the birds will get really close and personal with you. My husband made a special bird friend in there who loved his shoulder.
There is a lot more to do in San Antonio but these are just some of my favorite things.
You know, I've been in and near San Antonio, heard of all these, but never done any of them. Of course, when I was in San Antonio, it was helping for the ELCA National Youth Gathering, so that kept me busy. Then near it, when my sister tried to go to college at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, TX, and that didn't work for her.
It would be fun to visit San Antonio Texas and do all of the things you have mentioned in this list.
San Antonio sounds like an awesome place to live or vacation. Thanks for all the information! H5
