A large tossed salad with some cut up tomatoes and cucumbers is a perfect healthy side dish for your barbecue. Put the dressing on the salad right before you serve it so that it doesn't wilt.
Potato salad is a standard side dish for any barbecue. Buying potato salad is the easiest way to go and many stores (including supermarkets) offer a homemade version rather than the standard commercial type.
Of course you can make your own potato salad and if you don't have a favorite recipe there are plenty online.
Coleslaw is another barbecue favorite when it comes to side dishes. Buying coleslaw is easy but if you want to make your own simply purchase a bag of pre-shredded coleslaw mix and a bottle of coleslaw dressing and mix together.
Simple and easy way to make baked beans is to buy a large can of pork and beans, add some mustard, ketchup and a little brown sugar and bake for 15 min in a 350 degree oven. Tastes like homemade!
Veggies are easy to grill once you have that fire going.
Some favorites to grill are: eggplant, corn, peppers & onions, mushrooms, and either yellow or green zucchini squash. A brush with some olive oil and a little salt and your veggies will be a perfect side dish.
