Infusing vodka with flavor is a lot simpler than you might think. Check out this list and you'll see for yourself.
This is where you get to be creative and let your imagination run wild. What flavor do you want to make? You can choose from fruits, vegetables, herbs, and candies. Some work better than others, and a few things might not work at all, but you'd be surprised at how many things WILL work.
Once you decide the flavor, you will need to buy it. If it is a(n) fruit, vegetable, or herb, make sure it is fresh. Also make sure you buy enough. The more you use, the stronger the infusion.
This is when you chop up your chosen flavor into pieces. Herbs might be fine as they are. For fruits and vegetables, take off skin and chop into pieces so that the inner part is exposed for better infusion. If you're using candy, you might not have to prepare anything. For marshmallow or candies with an outer shell, it's best to cut them in half.
Once everything is prepared, pour the desired amount of vodka into a sealable container and add your flavor. Remember, the more flavor ingredient you use or the less vodka, the stronger the infusion. Screw on the lid, and let your concoction sit for 24 hours to 2 weeks. Shake the container every so often. The longer it sits, the stronger the infusion too. Marshmallows and certain candies only take a day or so.
Taste your drink when you think it's done to see how infused it is. When it has reached a taste you like, strain the vodka into a flask or container and drink up!
Some good suggestions are skittles, jolly ranchers, marshmallows, life savers, oranges, lemons, strawberries, pineapple, ginger, garlic, vanilla beans, peppers, and even bacon!
