Maybe your life is out of control or maybe you just have too much to get done. Take five minutes to read these ways to simplify your life and be able to sit back and enjoy it.
Take a big box or a trash bag and clear the clutter. You don't have to spend the whole day doing it. Just put the box or bag in a place that's easy to get to and as you go along place the things in it that you don't need anymore or that just clutter up your house. At the end of the month take it all to your local rescue mission or seconds store. Someone else may appreciate the treasure and it won't be in your way anymore.
Make a list of the things you want to do in 2011. It could be as simple as taking a romantic walk or as big as finding a new career. Whatever it is it should be a priority. Nothing that isn't worth your time should be on this list. By the way, this list isn't for the "shoulds" it's the things that you WANT to do to bring you happiness and peace not what other people think you need to do.
No protests please! Stop filling up all of your time. If you need to schedule down time then you need more than this list's help. Life is not about competing with the Jone's on who can be the busiest. Life is about what makes your spirit happy and being a part of a family or circle of friends. Those are the valuable things that you can make time for if you clear your schedule. Simplify 2011 by having the time to do the things you need and want to do.
Do you record everything for fear you might need the records someday? Do you spend endless hours balancing your checking account at the end of the month? Cut down on paperwork by using a program such as Quicken that you can download information to and file easily. The same goes for any paperwork. Scan it and put it in the right folder on an external hard drive. This saves your records from a computer crash and is a grab and go in case of disaster. Shred the hard copy and recycle the paper. This not only saves time and hassle, it saves space in your home. Get rid of your paper books and purchase a Kindle or Sony Reader. You can have a hundred books at your fingertips in one little space.
Taking pleasure in simple things is a great joy. Stop to see your surroundings, get in touch with your spirit, and feel your breath. The simple things in life like playing fetch with your dog or reading to a child are the most rewarding and cost nothing. If you want to simplify your life then consider not worrying about status or doing something because the crowd is doing it.
We all want to simplify our life in some way. Take the time to sit down and think about what would make you happy then don't be afraid to reach for it. You won't be disappointed.
Nice how to list!
You could write a book about this topic. I'd buy it.
Maybe I'll can some records into Google Docs storage and get rid of one file cabinet. Right now I'm shredding 2003-2007 records.
#5 is my New Year's Resolution. Somehow I keep myself too busy to distract myself...maybe I need to just listen to myself breathe sometimes. Great list Miri!
Clearing the clutter, simplifying and saving space is what I love to do. I try to have a "paperless" environment. Nice list!
