Washing day blues? Here are tips how to deal with the blues!
To soften new jeans, wash them several times. Alternatively, soak them for 12 hours in a small tub filled with cold water and plenty of fabric softener. Then wash as usual
Test dubious colourfast articles by soaking separately. If colour is shed, wash separately in lukewarm water with a handful of salt. This will help set the dye.
To remove detergent scum from your washing machine and hoses, add about 4 litres of white vinegar and run the solution through the entire cycle.
If there are too many suds, get rid of them by sprinkling them with table salt from a shaker. Next time reduce the amount of detergent or use a low-suds product.
If perspiration odour remains after laundering, sponge the area with a mixture of 1 teaspoon white vinegar and 1 cup water, then rinse. If the odour persists, work a paste of enzyme or other pre-soak product into the area, keep moist for 20 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.
Very helpful list. Thanks for your tips.
