Hydro Thunder Hurricane is an Xbox live arcade game. Players race speedboats in one of several types of contests. What really shines about this game are the stunning visuals: the tracks feature beautiful (and wildly exaggerated) versions of Paris, Seoul and even Area 51. It is relatively straight forward, but there are a few ways you can improve your play.
Because the tracks vary so much in Hydro Thunder Hurricane, you are going to want to practice them several times before you get the hang for them. You will get better as you compete in more races. Eventually, you will know right off the bat that when you are racing on Lake Powell you should begin on the left where you can grab a boost, then move immediately to the right hand wall where yet another can be found. These types of tricks can only be discovered with practice!
There are several different speedboats available in Hydro Thunder Hurricane. As you progress, you will unlock new ones. You should try them all, but after some time you can find the one that works best for you. Some players are better at handling, and should go for boats with max acceleration. Other gamers can handle their boats well but struggle in the air, so they should stick with boats like "Miss Behave" (composed of old WW2 plane parts).
Remember to use your boosts at the appropriate time. If you know that a jump is coming up and you need to make it, save that sucker so you can use it then. Perhaps most importantly: don't press boost when you are in tight quarters as you will bump walls and your ship may explode. Instead, save them for open areas where you can speed ahead of others.
Don't go overboard with those big leaps. Yes, you want to gain some ground (Hydro Thunder Hurricane is a racing game, after all), but doing so can send you right into a cliff. In the time it takes to reset, you may very well fall behind. We know how bad you want to display the sick air control abilities of Rad Hazard, but be careful.
There are certain times while playing Hydro Thunder Hurricane that the stars are simply smiling upon you. One such example is when an opponent in racing directly to your side as you head towards a tight entrance. If you see Thresher (or any other enemy boat) racing alongside you in such a situation, use your position to knock them straight into a wall. That will keep them off your tail for several seconds!
Hydro Thunder Hurricane is a fast paced Xbox live arcade game, but with enough practice you can get the hang of it!
