In this day and age it is so hard to find a well deserved job. But with the proper tools and training you can land a good job.
Try double majoring in college. Take classes offering valuable skills like, computer, research methods. Take a foreign language course. Inter at a place you would like to work or in the filed you prefer.
Nothing makes you look better than a cover letter when you fax or mail your resume. You can also put in on emails as well. This is just to let them get a little glance at you. Make sure to include points of interest on it but only briefly.
Extracurricular activities will help you look better and benefit when you are looking for a job. Join clubs, student associations. It highlights teamwork and leadership skills.
Attend as many events, fundraisers, and debates in your field of chose. This is educational for one but it gets you out there with the big dogs. The more face to name recognition you get. Also get business cards from every one you talk to. You can you them as reference once you get to know them better, call them and ask questions or voice concerns. Also you can reach out to them when you need a job opportunity.
Job fairs, career centers, job search engines, newspapers, and in person are the best ways to go hunting. There are endless opportunities. If there is a business that you want to work for even if they are not hiring, turn in your resume and cover letter. Call and check in with them and make your name known to them so when a position does open they will think of you first.
