Introduction:There are horrendous crimes across the United States that remain unsolved. Here are five from Oklahoma. If you have any information regarding these cases please call the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations at (405) 848-6724.
On June 8, 2008 eleven year old Skyla Whitaker and thirteen year old Taylor Placker were murdered as they walked down a rural road in Weleetka Oklahoma. The girls were discovered by Taylor's grandfather. Both had been shot multiple times in the head and chest and two weapons were used in the crime. Noone has ever been arrested for this crime and no motive for the killings has ever been established.
Reverand Carol Daniels age 61 traveled from Oklahoma City to Christ Holy Sactified Church in Anadarko, Oklahoma on Sundays to be available to anyone who needed prayer or counseling. On August 23, 2009 someone savagily murdered her inside the church stabbing her multiple times then staging her body behind the altar. No motive for the crime has been established and noone has ever been arrested for the crime. The church has since been torn down.
Brittany Phillips was raped and suffocated in her second story apartment in south Tulsa on September 27, 2004. To this date no suspect has been arrested. Brittany's mother works tirelessly trying to locate her daughter's killer and draw attention to the nation's flawed laws regarding DNA evidence requirements. I wrote this list because I recently saw Brittany's mother at a local Walmart.
On December 30, 1999 the bodies of Danny and Kathy Freeman were found in their burned home in Welch, Oklahoma. They had both been shot. Ashley Freeman and Lauria Bible, both 16, were thought to be inside the home at the time, but rescue workers never discovered their bodies. They haven't been seen since.
Dena Dean was only 16 years old when she was murdered. She was last seen leaving her job at the Marvin's Food Store located in the Town West Shopping Center in west Tulsa at approximately 10:00 p.m. on June 6, 1998. Her body was discovered in a field six days later. It's been over 12 years since Dena was taken from her family and they need answers.
