Maine may be a magical place to visit, but there are some things you simply must watch out for. I'm not talking about giant black bear or rabid raccoons, here. Check out these crazy laws.
In Maine it is illegal to have your Christmas decorations on display after January 14. Not only is it silly, Maine is obviously the land of the outlaws as evergreen wreaths adorn homes throughout the winter and only come down when the snow melts in the spring.
Known for its succulent lobster, Maine sees fit to regulate the capture of these little beauties. It is illegal in Maine to catch a lobster with your bare hands--like any Mainer wouldn't know enough to put on a pair of gloves!
Maine's capitol city--Augusta--has banned the playing of the violin while strolling down the street. It is unclear, however, if violin playing is allowed if you are stationary.
In Waterville, a city in Southern Maine, it is illegal to blow your nose when walking down the street. One can only assume its a noise violation.
I saved the best for last, as every good Maine citizen knows it is illegal to step out of a plane in flight. To exit a plane in Maine you MUST wait until the plane lands.
If you are planning a visit to Maine, beware. We are a wonderful place to visit, but you'd better know our laws!
