I think this list changes a little bit with the seasons, but for now it is summer and these are my top five activities for Southern California. I'll throw a few extras in for free in the final thoughts too!
It's the happiest place on earth-and you have to do it especially if you have kids or grandkids. I've been to Disneyland several times but have yet to visit California Adventure. You'll want to have a little time to stroll through Downtown Disney (which is not the same as Main Street inside of Disneyland).
Several choices to choose from depending on where you stay and the activities planned during your stay. My favorites tend to be Huntington Beach and Balboa. I like beaches that get a lot of people because I'll be out there with my metal detector picking up the treasures left behind.
It has been a number of years since I've been to Universal Studios, but it is an enjoyable and not as strenuous as some of the other theme parks. The tour takes place as a tram ride and there are also several shows with seating.
Again, depending on where you are and what else might be on your agenda, you could go to a baseball game. I wouldn't limit your choice to the Dodgers or Angels either.Southern California has several minor leagues teams with smaller stadiums, less expensive tickets, and just as much fun. You might catch a rising star or a bona fide major leaguer on a rehabilitation assignment.
This is a great way to get out of the heat for a day. This is a world class aquarium and the only warning here is to take your time, relax, and enjoy the various aquariums. If you move at a fast pace, you won't enjoy as much and you can get through everything in a few hours.but I don't think you would be getting your money's worth.
There is a lot to do in Southern California and I'll toss out a few other ideas for free. One could enjoy the Hollywood Walk of Fame but keep your kids close to you if you go as it is not the best neighborhood (although I do think it is better than it used to be). If you feel like volunteering for a day, check out The Dream Center.I've not gone yet, but I would love to go and volunteer some time there (I'll include their website). There are also a few other amusement parks worth looking into-Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags.
Fun list for enjoyment and entertainment. I like the San Diego Zoo.Thank you.
