Introduction:

Adolph Hitler was one of the most evil and cruel men in history. Because of his thirst for power, the entire world was thrust into a war that took millions of lives, both civilian and military. Despite this mad man's thirst for power and hatred for everyone different from himself, Hitler ended up losing the war. These are just a few reasons Adolph Hitler lost World War II.

Russian Winter

One reason Adolph Hitler lost World War II was due to the Russian winter. Hitler sent poorly equipped troops to fight the Russians. They arrived before winter set in and were there long into winter, wearing their summer uniforms. Hitler and his generals hoped to gain additional supplies from the retreating Russian army. By a stroke of sheer genius, that same army burned everything they left behind. There was very little for Hitler's army to use and many froze to death and died of starvation and disease.

American Home Front

The American home front is another reason Adolph Hitler lost World War II. The "can do spirit" of those left at home reigned supreme. Thousands of "Rosie the Riveters" left their homemaking duties and helped with the war effort by building planes, making ammunition and planting victory gardens. Those on the home front also drove on bald tires to save rubber for the war and bought war bonds. The rationed everything from food to gas.

Too Many Fronts

Adolph Hitler lost World War II because he fought this war on too many fronts. His thirst for power and his "Master Race" plan was his downfall. He truly believed that he could win, despite spreading the German army too thin across Europe and Africa. Hitler underestimated those he fought against, thinking his worn out army could defeat the entire world simply because they were part of his Master Race.

English Bulldog

Adolph Hitler lost World War II because of the "English Bulldog," Winston Churchill. Despite England's small size, her army and navy fought to the end against Hitler and his military. Churchill and the English people refused to buckle under Hitler's blitzes and continued to fight. England had not been invaded since William the Conqueror had done it in 1066 and they were not about to let Hitler defeat them.

Small Bands of Resistance

Small bands of resistance is another reason Adolph Hitler lost World War II. Men, women and children throughout Europe stood up against Hitler and his army. They listened to the BBC on illegal radios. They hid Jews and others persecuted by the Hitler and his Nazis. These civilians helped the Allies in immeasurable ways - nursing them when they were wounded, providing food and shelter and fought beside them. They kept the faith and held on to hope despite their horrible circumstances.

Final Thoughts

Adolph Hitler had a plan to take over the world. He came closer to making that plan a reality than any of us care to think about. Thankfully, things fell into to place for the Allies who finally defeated Hitler and his Nazis. If not for these reasons, Hitler would have won the war and our world today would be much different than it is.
