Many people experience dry skin in the winter. It can become painful but if you follow these tips for softening winter skin, you will avoid the dryness and cracking that can occur.
When it is cold outside, sometimes instead of the water we normally drink we substitute it with hot tea or coffee. Caffeine can dehydrate you and your skin. Make sure to still drink plenty of water in the wintertime to avoid dry skin.
After you bathe while your pores are open, use an allover body moisturizer to help keep your skin soft and avoid redness and itchiness due to dry skin.
Use a foundation that has moisturizer in it. If yours doesn't have added moisturizer, either mix a few drops in before applying or use moisturizer as a base to protect your face from winter winds and cold.
During cold and flu season, we wash our hands more often and also use hand sanitizers that contain alcohol which can dry your skin. Carry hand lotion with you to apply after washing your hands.
Your hair and scalp can fall victim to the drying nature of winter weather. Make sure to use conditioner and rub it gently into your scalp if you experience dry scalp from winter weather.
Make sure to protect your exposed skin from the harsh winter when you go outside. Wear gloves and use a scarf to help protect your skin.
