Reasons Mitt Romney Scares Me

Introduction:

It looks like Mitt Romney is going to be the Republican's pick to run for President. Here are 5 reasons why he scares me. Agree or disagree, this is one person's opinion.

Out of Touch With Regular Folk

Please tell me how someone who has spent a good portion of his adult life being financially secure can relate to the millions of Americans who cannot find work or are struggling to make ends meet?

Venture Capitalist

Argue with me if you want, but I find that most people who make their money by investing in companies and buying and selling companies are often out of touch with the power they have to change peoples' lives. Yes, maybe he has helped to create jobs but he has also helped to put many out of work. His main focus is to build his bank account and I highly doubt he cares about the average worker.

Flip Flopping on Issues

While researching for this list, I got confused. Mitt Romney is, at times, against marriage for anyone but a man and a woman but believes that a gay person should be able to openly serve in the military. Okay? Which is it? He also flip flops on abortion issues and rights. He is pro-life and at one time wanted to reverse "Roe vs. Wade" but then changed his mind about that. His indecisiveness with these issues scares me. Personally I want my options open and I want all to have truly equal rights.

Couldn't Win Previously So What Changed

Previously ran but was beaten by McCain (himself a weak candidate). What has changed that makes him a more attractive candidate now? It just goes to show how troubled the GOP is that Mitt Romney is the best they've got. THAT scares me.

Too Polished

Mitt Romney is like so many other politicians- way too "polished". It screams phony, fake and putting on a show. Maybe it isn't the popular idea but give me Joe the Plumber. At least he looks down to earth and perhaps we have something in common. Maybe a regular Joe can relate better to the 99% and would actually care to work for the people.




Final Thoughts

I could have gotten into Mitt Romney's views on the issues such as what he "promises" to do for the country but we all know that politician's promises don't mean squat. Why some of us actually vote for these guys is beyond me. We need a candidate who is going to lead a sweep to get rid of the politicians who have lost touch with the 99% and start fresh with those who will truly represent the people.
