Card games are a great way to have one on one fellowship with someone else or a have a fun, family time. There is so much technology today, that robs us of that precious, personal time of a simple activity like playing cards. I grew up in a family that played cards and I have fond, nostalgic memories of card games.
Crazy Eights is very similar to UNO except you play it with regular cards and the rules differ. It has many other names and you can play it with two or more players. The object is to get rid of the cards in your hand by matching the discard by number or suit. This is a fairly easy game for older kids to learn.
Old Maid is a favorite kid's card game that adults can enjoy, too. My mother always entertained the younger ones with a lively game of Old Maid. The object is to pass on the dreaded card to someone else and lay down all of your matching cards, before the game ends. You can play this game with two or more players and a regular deck of cards with one queen removed. Great fun for all ages!
There are many variations of the card game called Rummy, but we always played the basic one. You should play this game with two to four players, although six can play it. The object is to dispose of all the cards in your hand, which can be done in three ways: melding, laying off and discarding.
Spades is more of an adult-partner game that requires six, four, three or two players. Spades are always trump in this bidding game and the winning team is the one who takes the highest amount of spade tricks.
Peanuts or Goofus is a name given for a wild group game of Solitaire. This game always had us laughing and speed is the skill that wins this game. The object is to get rid of your 10-card pile that sits with your four-card Solitaire line-up. You play your cards on your own as well as on the aces in the middle of the table. Do move any food or drinks out of the way for this hilariously, fun card game. :)
I can't find it anywhere and it's my family's favorite!
Well never heard of peanuts or goofus, but I challenge you to a fast, riproaring game of Spades! Great nostalgic list. HI5
Thank you for this list of great card games. I played Kings in the Corner with my Granddad, but I think I could manage to get it going again with some help. I don't know your peanuts or goofus game.h5 my friend and thank you for the memories.
