We are always searching for remedies to prevent our skin from aging. But can it really be done? Decide for yourself after looking at the answers to these questions.
A varying combination of factors is at work; heredity, general health and environment, colour of complexion and exposure to elements - especially the sun - make some people of the same age appear younger or older than their peers.
Stay out of the sun! It is the most effective advice so far. However, it is impossible to stay out of the sun totally. Therefore, always use a sunblock or sunscreen on exposed areas whenever you must be outdoors in the sun. You should protect yourself as early in life as possible, even during childhood.
Moisturizers won't prevent wrinkles but they can have a positive effect on the way skin looks. When given moisture, the surface of the outer layer of skin 'plumps up'. The skin appears smoother and wrinkles are temporarily softened. The skin feels better too.
Many wrinkle creams are formulations designed to help 'fill in' wrinkles. They work only on the surface layer, so their effect is temporary. Other than that, many creams are excellent moisturizers containing ingredients that that actually help to trap moisture within the layers of the skin.
Facial exercise will not prevent wrinkles and, in fact can do more harm than good. Your face is constantly in motion when you eat, speak and otherwise exercise your face in the routine of living; it is precisely because of repeated motion that lines are formed.
