These Halloween party ideas have been around for a long time, so they are not my ideas since I played them as a child more than 55 years ago. The party ideas can be at a home or a community center. Change the theme for another celebration party.
Have several small pumpkins with the lids cut off in different designs. Have the lids on a table. The pumpkins are either on another table or on that same table a distance from the lids. You decide. Each child has a certain time to find the pumpkin that lid belongs to. Depending on how many pumpkins you have will depend on the time you give each child to discover where it belongs. A prize is given for the children who match the lids to the proper pumpkins in the time given.
In a shallow roasting pan, put enough water so the apples will float. Each child has a certain amount of time to go into the water and bite the apple for a prize. Hands are not allowed to be used, on the mouth. Originally coins were placed in the apples for the prize, however that is not recommened since they can be swallowed by young children.
Turn off the main lights and only leave a small night light lit. Everyone can tell a scary story if they have one, if not, the host or hostess should have several to tell. Make some scary noises for fun.
Have several washable tattoos to choose from for all the children attending the party. Each child can pick two tattoos to place on their visible skin.
See the authors Halloween pinata directions to make your own Pinata and have every child get a swing at the Pinata to get the candy to come out. Blind fold the child that will be hitting the Pinata and have all others stand out of swinging range to stay safe.
