Celebrate your new home with these housewarming party tips!
Pick up housewarming themed invitations at the party supply store. If you prefer to make your own, visit the craft store for blank cards and home-themed rubber stamps or embellishments. Ideas for embellishments include a welcome mat, mailbox, picket fence or house. Be sure to include directions with the invitations since this will be the first time most of your guests will visit you in your new home.
Plan for your housewarming to be an open house style party. Set aside a few hours and indicate that guests are welcome to drop by or come and go as they please within that time frame. This allows you to invite more people since you don't have to be concerned about seating everyone for a more formal occasion. Invite your new neighbors as this provides a nice opportunity for them to drop in and introduce themselves.
Because this is the first time you are showing off your home, you will want to show off the decorating you have done in each room. Additional decorations such as balloons and streamers are unnecessary and may even take away from the everyday décor. Some fresh flowers and a few scented candles are all you really need to enhance the space for your housewarming party.
Serve cocktail style foods that guests can easily eat while mingling. Set your food up buffet style so that guests can serve themselves. Keep it simple so that you don't have to spend the party in the kitchen. Wine and a cheese platter, crackers and spreads or a few appetizer type foods should suffice.
Because guests will want to tour your home and you will want to enjoy your company, a good idea is to ask a friend or relative to conduct the home tours. You can also give the first tour and then ask guests who have already seen the home to take turns showing the house to newcomers.
Good list.
