The Olympics are coming up! Why not throw a party to celebrate? Since gymnastics is my favorite sport, here are tips on how to throw a themed party.
Check the Olympics schedule to find out when gymnastics is playing. The official schedule even gives brief explanations of what's playing each day so you know if it's trials or actual competition. The link to the schedule is below.
There are five colors in the Olympics rings. You can use those as your colors to draw the whole party together. You can, alternatively, go for a red, white, and blue theme to support Team USA or choose the colors for whichever country you support. Another good option is the color gold since that's the medal everyone is hoping to win!
You can purchase posters for the 2012 Olympics or posters of gymnasts. You can save money and print out gymnast silhouettes to cut out and hang up around the house. Streamers and balloons are always good party options too. You can even get functional decorations that match your theme such as plates, napkins, cups, coasters, etc. Some available options can be found in the link below.
Cookies and cupcakes are the best option because they're easy to make, easy to serve, and easy to decorate. You can use dye and frosting to draw the Olympic rings, gymnasts, gold medals, or anything else you want on them. People like drinks too. Make drinks in colors that match your theme, or use colored ice cubes. For advice and more ideas check out the link below.
Make a "pin the ponytail on the gymnast" game or Olympics bingo that can be played while watching. There are also drinking games you can play if everyone is over 21 years old. There is more information on this too in the link below.
