Introduction:Everybody loves a hound. Those sad-looking, eager to please eyes and charm have stolen the hearts of millions. Although it is hard to find a bad hound breed, there are a few that stand out from the crowd.
Remember the Hushpuppy Shoes mascot? That is the lovable basset hound. Great with children and easy to care for (watch those long ears), basset hounds are wonderful for most households.
One the gentlest breeds, the Bloodhound makes a great pet. They love their families and are as loyal as possible. Bloodhounds do need a lot of room and, once they start following a scent, they can be difficult to stop.
Those long, low to the ground Dachshunds are great pets. Prone to back problems, owners must make sure they don't jump off furniture. No one ever told Dachshund they weren't big dogs so they make excellent watch dogs.
Another gentle breed, greyhounds are a lot of fun for active families. Despite their racing background, greyhounds tend to be couch potatoes until they start to run.
One the most hyper of all hounds, beagles are great pets for families. These comical clowns are fun to watch. Start training early because they tend to be stubborn, like most hounds.
Hounds make great pets - in the right family. Be sure to research any dog before adopting. Of course, each dog has it's own personality - make sure it fits into your lifestyle.
