Speed up the rate at which you turn fat into calories burned using these tips!
For each pound of muscle you have, you'll burn 6 calories per hour. While this doesn't sound impressive, it all adds up over time. No, you don't have to look like The Incredible Hulk to take advantage of this, but remember that a pound of fat only burns a measly 2 calories an hour.
While this won't build you additional muscle, it will raise your metabolism for hours after your workout. Just change things up a bit, maybe try a spin class or even kickboxing. I like to use run/walk intervals. I walk for three minutes, then run full out for as long as I can, then go back to walking.
This is my favorite, because I love to eat! Large meals slow your metabolism while your digestive system breaks down a large meal, so take it easy and eat small meals more often.
While its rewarding to see the pounds drop quickly, its often at the expense of lost muscle. And as we recall having muscle increases our resting metabolic rate, so this is like shooting yourself in the metabolic foot!
Better metabolism through chemistry?? Heck, yeah! This ain't your momma's salt and pepper! Adding spicy red pepper flakes or jalapeno chiles to your dishes increases metabolism by promoting interaction between chemical compounds. Experiment with trying different flavors like jalfreizi or other spicy curries, you may find something truly delicious and get the added benefit of boosted metabolism.
As with any diet or exercise change, you should consult with your physician before implementing these tips.
