They are supposed to have gotten better about animal welfare on film sets. There is a lot going on and it can be dangerous for people's pets or other animals.
This one was an accident. The orangutan that was like a sidekick of his had been being driven around in a car and it stuck its head out. It got hit by accident. The film crew is many times not very careful. It is a danger.
There was a lot of talk about horses being injured or hurt on this set of the comparatively recent remake. One message said two were killed in one incident and then two again in another. If others didn't know about it many in Hollywood did.
This info is from David Carradine the star of the movie. He said the director, Bergman got a horse that was going to be killed and had it killed for the movie and thought it would be okay. I'm glad Mr. Carradine spoke up about it. I met Talon in Hollywod who was his former son in law but that is not where I got the info from. It is info I saw on Fright.com
I am listing this one because the AHA said horses were killed in a battle scene. Accusations were also there of an actual cockfight and other ones. Because of that SAG then let the AHA monitor all films.
This was also on Fright.com. It said that the bull at the end was really killed. It sounds like something that people might have liked to have known about.
There is supposed to be an AHA person on the set watching out for the welfare of animals in the U.S. Their site can tell you if the film was acting right with any animals on it.
Good list.
