Not all Christmas decorations have to be expensive or bought completed in a store. Some of the most fun Christmas tree decorations can be homemade. Here are the top five homemade Christmas tree decorations.
Paper chains are a great homemade decoration for a Christmas tree. They are easy to make, can be made by repurposing old magazines, papers, & even wrapping paper, & they look great on a Christmas tree. For detailed instructions on how to make paper chains, see the link in the supporting links section below.
Paper chains aren't the only cool chains to put on trees. If you take some kind of yarn, string, or fishing line, you can make beautiful, colorful strings of just about anything! My favorites are strings of many objects. Try stringing together popcorn, beads, buttons, colorful cereals & candies, & cotton balls. It makes for a fun time, & in the end, you have a wonderful homemade Christmas tree decoration.
Crocheting is a lovely art to know, especially around Christmas time when the tree needs new decorations! Some great ideas of things to crochet include: mini stockings, mini Santa hats, mini snowmen, & snowflakes of all sizes.
If you have any tiny boxes & some wrapping paper scraps, you can make some darling presents to decorate the Christmas tree with! Simply wrap the tiny presents as normal, then scatter them throughout the Christmas tree between your paper chains, popcorn strings, & crocheted Santa hats. They will look great on your Christmas tree; very festive!
Bows are an easy homemade Christmas tree decoration. Simply take any ribbon, yarn, string, etc. & tie it in a fancy bow, either on its own, on a hook, or on an actual tree branch. Make sure to spread them all over the tree between all your other homemade decorations for the best effect.
Other great homemade Christmas tree decorations could include: ornaments made of Christmas cards (simply punch a hole in one side & add yarn to hang it on the tree with), picture ornaments (take a picture, glue it to a clean can lid, cover the edges of the lid with putty to prevent people from getting cut, glue garland pieces, fake berries, fake snow, Christmas beads, etc. around the edge, glue on something to attach it to the tree, then hang), & painted bells (basically, find plain bells, paint them, let them dry, & then tie them onto the tree.)
