Leading a relatively private life, after her husband, Steve Irwin was killed, Terri Irwin's characteristics are offered here from several sources; one being a local Eugene, Oregon blog.
Terri Irwin was born Theresa Penelope Raines on July 20, 1964 in Eugene, Oregon. Although American born, Terri became an Australian Citizen on November 15, 2009 as a tribute to her late husband Steve Irwin.Terri remains in Australia today with her daughter and son. Terri states her children are usual and treated as any other child as they should be.Most of Terri Irwin's family from birth remains in the United States.
Terri Irwin was wife to the well known Steve Irwin who was the Crocodile Hunter. They were married in June 1992. The couple's first born was a girl named Bindi Sue born in 1998. The second was a son, Robert Clarence born in 2003. Steve was killed by a sting ray piercing his heart while he was filming underwater in Australia. Terri Irwin and the children were not present during Steve Irwin's immediate death from the sting ray.
While growing up, Terri helped in the family trucking business in the late 1970's and at the age of 20 was running the business. Along with that Terri began saving animals her father brought home that were injured on the road she would rehabilitate them and return them to the wild. Terri began a rehabilitation facility called "Cougar Country", which she left when she visited Australia and subsequently remained and got married to Steve.
Steven Irwin was Terri's love and still is to this day as she continues her work at the Australian Zoo that her and her husband owned together. They both filmed a documentary on their honeymoon called the Crocodile Hunter. Animal Planet became a popular televised program in the United States. Steve Irwin made many guest appearances on Jay Leno's show with exotic animals that were known to be wild, but somehow were tamed by Steve on stage.
Terri Irwin was in England to award a special recognition award to Sir David Attenborough. The British national Television Awards audience all stood and applauded Terri in light of her husband's death. This was in recognition for her strength in carrying on as Steve Irwin would have wanted her to.In 2006 Terri explained Attenborough was second only to Steve's father who inspired his work as an animal communicator.
Very informative about Terri Irwin. I was so sad when her husband died. I was always afraid something like that would happen to him, just not from a sting ray.
