Swiss chard is easy to grow, and can be added to many meals for an extra severing of greens. Plant some in your flower beds close to your door for convenience.
Substitute lettuce with thinly sliced Swiss chard leaves. Cut away the stalk and save it for idea #3 on this list. Top burritos and tacos with the sliced leaves.
Thinly slice the leaves of Swiss chard, and toss into any baked egg dish with other vegetables. You can also add it to dishes made on the stove top.
Save the cut stalks of Swiss chard, and use in place of celery. There are many recipes that you can do this, and not have to buy celery.
Cut away the leaves from the Swiss chard stalks, and boil the leaves until they are wilted. Rinse in cold water, or an ice bath, and squeeze the water out. Cut and use in place of spinach or other greens in a recipe.
Follow the directions in #4 on this list, and then add the Swiss chard to pasta dishes or any soup that you prefer. It's a good way to add another serving of greens.
When spinach or other greens have failed to grow in your garden, try growing swiss chard. Thin slices of Swiss chard can be added to any salad also.
