Introduction:

Merchant Circle is best known for keeping people connected to local businesses. Within the past year Merchant Circle has expanded into a Content Writers program for freelance writers who are new to writing or expanding their writing resume. As with any "content mill" Merchant Circle has its Pros and here they are.

Solid Starting Point For New Writers

If you are a new writer and wanting to break into the freelance world, then Merchant Circle is a solid place to start. They have an "open registration" which means that no writing samples, testing or background is needed.

Source of Extra Income

If you are a freelance writer or a stay-at-home mom or dad who needs a small stash of side income, then Merchant Circle can give you that. New writers start off with the ability to make around $50 per week and advance as they increase levels. Higher level writers are making a reported $500 or more per week.

Chances to Advance

Quality writers are rewarded through a leveling system. As the writer advances through the levels they are allowed to claim more articles. The more articles that a writer can claim the easier it is to make a decent income per week. All writers start at a low-level and generally increase after 12-15 articles to higher levels. Certain higher levels offer writers higher paying articles making the goal of a higher weekly payout attainable.

Bonus Payout Scale

Everyone loves a bonus and Merchant Circle does not disappoint. Depending on the amount of money a writer produces they will receive a special set bonus amount. If a writer produces $100 of work during the pay period they will receive a $14 bonus. As the amount a writer produces increases so does the bonus. This is a nice incentive for many writers to reach for higher payout goals.

Set Fees and Payout

For writers just starting out or writers who need something a bit more reliable Merchant Circle offers weekly payouts and set per article rates. There is nothing confusing about the pay scale and there are no odd fee plus revenue share tables to figure out. Per article rates are set at $4 for most articles and $10 for high quality articles (offered to higher level writers).




Final Thoughts

The average new Merchant Circle content provider can expect to reach level 4 within three to four weeks of their two first articles. The payment threshold is $20 per week to receive weekly payouts. PayPal is required as is the time and dedication to claim the articles and have them turned in within the 72 hour deadline.

Merchant Circle offers a great learning experience for new writers and a place to decide if freelance writing is really a good choice for a career.
