I won't even pretend to be a Christmas decorating expert, but over the years some fun and interesting Christmas collectibles have gradually made their way into our home. Most of the value is sentimental, but valuable to us nonetheless.
Snow globes are magical with their miniature scenes and sparkly glitter. We have several that are musical with detailed city scenes and some that are smaller and perfect for little hands.
Snowmen just say "winter" to me and I love how easy it is to find snowman ornaments for the Christmas tree. We have felted snowman ornaments, jingle bell snowman ornaments and lots more made out of acrylic, fabric and glass and they may not be fancy, but they sure are cute.
Matryoshka, or nesting, dolls are a favorite in our house and we have several that are Christmas themed: a Nutcracker, Santa and a snowman. We like them so much they often stay up throughout the year with the others.
Hand painted ball ornaments are a mystery to me. I should watch YouTube or something to learn how they're made. For now, I am content to enjoy the uniqueness of each hand painted ornament and gradually add to our small collection each year.
There is a tradition in our family for each person to have their own red felt Christmas stocking with names in gold cursive lettering and beads and sequins for decoration. I will always love those but find that I am also very drawn to other handmade Christmas stockings that are unique and kind of wild and crazy, using bold patterned fabrics in bright colors. It's fun to have a collection of these stockings on hand so we can pick which one we want to hang on the mantel and also have extras for visitors.
A big part of the fun of our Christmas collection is how our children's interests and input help the collections evolve. I've always loved the nesting dolls for example, but even more so now that I get to see my kids enjoying and playing with them.
Yes, snow globes are the best! H5
A very good list for Christmas collectibles.
