The DDT has been around ever since the era of Hulk Hogan and the first man to make it popular was the snake, Jake Roberts. It takes a front headlock and drops the opponent with his full weight on top of his head. Used as a finisher it is not only believable, but can be deadly.
The Raven effect is simply a faster delivery to the original DDT and it has been used to perfection taking care of people from Tommy Dreamer to DDP. It has had the longest history in pro wrestling and maybe the most uses to win matches by the diabolical Raven.
I chose this just simply for the impact it brings on the opponent it jars the spine and causes some nasty head trips. The problem stands that the user cannot execute the set up that often.
Edge's Lifting DDT actually came from the leader of the brood Gangrel. Edge has his version on here simply for his length of tenure using it in the WWE
The original creator of the DDT he would often give different answers to what the initials DDT stood for. His various answers ranged from a popular pesticide recently banned at the beginning of his use of the move as a finisher to a simple two word quote of "the end"
One of the most well known lightweights the world over the Asai DDT takes a headlock from over the shoulder of the attacker jumps back and flips himself backwards over the opponent, and driving the opponents head with his full weight.
If you look back in the history of the WWE the DDT is more of a move to damage while not holding the attitude needed for a finisher.
