Friends are like fragile flowers, without nourishment, they will wither up and fade away. Here are fun ways to nurture your circle of friends on a monthly basis.
Talk to your circle of friends about exploring a different ethnic restaurant monthly. You may be surprised how fun and enlightening it is to try different foods. If restaurants aren't affordable, how about rotating at each other's houses to sample foods from different cultures? Each month, the hostess could offer discussion tidbits about the featured country.
There's nothing easier than renting a classic movie, popping some corn and sharing fun with your circle of friends. My daughter and I used to share monthly viewings of classic movies, so if you can't think of a movie to start with - try "Anna Katarina". Be warned it's a long, three-tissue-box movie. Our pals ending up piling pillows and blankets on the floor and staying the night!
If you and selected friends seek enlightenment, why not start a monthly spiritual circle? It makes for livelier conversation to include people from different religions or spiritual backgrounds. I'll offer a starting topic - "Where do we go when we die?"
Book clubs are just plain fun! Brainstorm with several book-addicted friends and just do it. For the first meeting, consider watching the movie, "Jane Austen Book Club" for ideas and inspiration. Ms. Austen wrote six books, so that six months of discussion topics could ensue.
Alternating members of the group might search for inspiring lectures in the area and your monthly topic of conversation is good-to-go. Try libraries, book stores and universities. Afterwards, you and your friends could stop at a coffee house for scintillating conversation.
Remember, we're born into a family, but we choose our extended family of friends. After reading the fun ways to nurture your circle of friends, I trust you'll be inspired to get busy with it!
Good list! Friends are very valuable. High 5!
Wonderful list to nurture the circle of friends. It sure is a nice caring collection. I like them all. If we lived closer, I know we'd be in these circles together.
